A Burglar Would Be Kinder

A burglar would be kinder

They would take what they wanted

And run

Instead of leaving you with half-broken

Reminders

Of what you believe

Is still there

A burglar would not hesitate

Nor would they trace the outline of your face

With rough thumbs

Thinking that if they wait

Maybe,

Maybe,

Something better will come along
