who were you?
but sweet-smelling hair and rose-tinted cheeks
your presence faded but your scent lingered for weeks

who were you, but a blinding smile?

if it were to rain, and the droplets pounded against the earth, I would've bore their force if it meant that you didn't have to

and who was I?
but a lonely heart, a jumbled mind
with little a feeling left behind

my heart blasted itself out of my chest
and i couldn't taint you, i would not let myself do it, because for you, there should be only the best

so i admired from afar, i sat and i watched, and the swelling of my heart, i could not stop.

and i thought, who was I, but your reluctant admirer?

but I remember the day it changed
the colors you wore were bright and your smile was even brighter
and my courage soared higher and higher
i waited so long to tell you the truth
to tell you that i loved you
and that i hoped you loved me too
and as soon as you did i swear the world stopped spinning
if only i knew that was just the beginning
