If there should be another day
with clouds that murmur: "Rain and snow;"
That whisper, "Ransom Christ did pay,
So deepest Truth your soul can know";
If mist and frost and dark descend
And trees stand bare and stark and dead
And wind thus howls of pending end
Fearful of the path we tread...
Then...
Then our crosses up we take
And hoist His flag high o'er our heads
To lift our hearts and stop them shake
To get up, out of slumber wake.
Get up and walk in gloom and rain
To praise the Lord, Christ who was slain
For mist will be dispersed again
And greenness bloom o'er all the earth
By grace of God, the great Amen
Shall ring, and fill our souls with mirth.
