Dec 2012
The golden eye of a powder blue sky
Retreats to the other side
Days like these I contemplate
How I can say goodbye

Fields of green
Bask beneath the light of a dying day
Ride into the sunset
The gallant way
That’s what I say

Merely children at play
Drowning in our strife
Reaching out along the way
Searching for signs of life

While the wicked eye
Of an envious sky
Never held a chance

It could have been a lifetime
Caught in a moments glance
It could have been perfection
Beauty by mere chance
It could have been an inspiration
I witnessed at the time
Something true
In the golden hue
That one would call sublime

The gentle falling of a setting sun
Whispers to me now
Speaking truth in simple terms
In ways I knew not how
Expressing thoughts that own no words
Of timeless secrets deep
That one can only come to know
With deaths eternal sleep

Knowing I can never hold this moment
It’s content
Paper thin
A moment of beauty that never can last
Was the Lords only sin.
