I'm sitting in a room
surrounded by other people,
staring at the tv playing
college football.
I try listening to what others are saying,
but the words escape me.
I know two people there,
but it's a couples party;
so that makes me
the third wheel,
alone wishing
I could go home.
What I should do
is get up and talk
to someone, anyone really
instead of sitting in the corner,
but I can barely
keep my composure,
so there I am sitting in a room
surrounded by other people
staring at the tv playing
college football.
