Cancer
The one risk she took
She risked it all
And she was attacked
She couldn’t see them
But knew they were there
Then
They pounced
Ripping out her hair
The coughing
The blood
The bruises
After it happened she
Knew she wouldn’t
Be treated the same
They cared more
Took her places
She’d never been
She stopped eating
Started to lose weight
Until one day
They attacked again
More hair
Blood
Bruises
Coughing
Blows to her lungs
And finally
She gave up
She sat in that blank white room
And thought
She thought about
How she has fought
And fought
And lost every time
What was it worth?
Nothing, she realized
And she let go
