Have you
Thought about
What your last
Words would be?

If
You
Had
A
Choice
To
Begin
With

Would you choose
To have last words at all?
What if you misspoke?
What if they misheard?

Is
That
Grounds
For
Haunting?

I don’t know what
My words would be
Or what they will be.
Maybe this?
Maybe not?

Should
It
Be
A
Lie?
Truth?

Perhaps I
Should
Consult a
Last words specialist
Perhaps it should be nothing.

Or perhaps it should be
The irony that draws a feeble mind
Escapes the claws of misfortune
To see the mist of breath
To join the ancient death.
