Spiral

you sat there like a buddha showing us the way

we thought we could keep you here

we thought you would stay

in this place

we tried to be as good as you

and yet you left us

you left us

as quietly and suddenly

as a tear leaves the eye

falling

away from us

away from everything

spiraling

we stood there like fools wondering in awe at your calm
