You once were so sweet and romantic
I don’t like getting caught up in semantics
And I see that time was no friend of mine
I caught up to the end of the line, but

What you did to me was ****** first degree
As nothing I did was enough apparently
I could no longer find a way to please
You were no longer concerned of my needs

You can’t claim there were no casualties
I’ll never, ever forget what you did to me
Made me feel like the biggest fool
Sure, I see now that you were no good

Shattered my heart and it’s still apart
But you continue to move right along
I just play and relate to all these songs
Which I now need because I believed

When it’s over and all said and done
I feel we competed and that you've won
I guess there are no rules to love and war
But I just wish we could go back to before
