Poems
Nov 2012
a poem for my hometown friends
The other day
as I stopped to get gas
coming out of the station after paying
before hand, like everyone does
you said hi to me
you called out my name
and a friendly hello
and me in my
own little world
didn’t notice you at first
but simply fashioned out
a robotic cheerful reply
a double take back
I noticed it was you
from high school
it has be 2 years
and counting
I stared at you
and you stared right back at me
are we ever going to make it
make it out of this place
get away from here?
like the others managed to do
or will we
will we be the ones
that stay forever?
that tried to escape
but the reality here kept us trapped
it tied us down
with a rope
and as time goes on
will it only get tighter?
will it only make it harder
to finally leave everything
and let go?
will we ever let go?
