for that brief moment time; Barbara Lamarr & Coleen Moore were toe-to-toe; the girl who was too beautiful vs. the perfect flapper at the box office; effectively ending her film career in 1929, Moore maintained her wealth through astute investments, becoming a partner in the investment firm Merrill Lynch. She later wrote a "how-to" book about investing in the stock market. On January 30, 1926, La Marr died of complications associated with tuberculosis and nephritis at the age of 29. Her friend, film director Paul Bern, was with her when she died. Bern died in a mysterious shooting six years later.
