Look right, look left, Look again
Close your eyes, Take a breath
Feel the wind and hear the birds
Feel everything not put into words

Enjoy it all while it lasts
A hidden place from demons of past
Savor this little, fleeting sight
Of what it’s like to feel the light

Ignore the darkness creeping close
The screeching demons, the worst of those
Close your eyes and pray to all
Put up all of your mental walls

See the demons through the cracks
Always aggressive in their attacks
Hide behind the barriers up
Hide until you decide you’ve had enough

Put down the walls, let them in
Feel the past come back again
A memory here, a memory there
Nightmares begin to feel the air

They steal your breath and choke you with lies
Watching with their bloodied eyes
Waiting for your break of will
Or even just your daily pill

You can’t hold up, this is the end
Strength has never been your friend

So,
look right, look left, look one last time
Close your eyes and say goodbye
You were doomed from the start
When your mind was torn apart
