Little muddy footprints

by @graydon-archer

Little muddy footprints, tracked across the floor. "You kids stay in or out! And don't you slam the door!" One would like a cookie. One would like a drink. "Which one of you kids put this frog in my sink!?" "What have you got in your mouth? No! You can't eat that!" "Oh, my word! What have you done? You just let out the cat!" "Who was in the bathroom? Young man you need to flush!" "Whats that in the water? Why, that IS your new toothbrush!" "Come here and let me see it. Oh, you'll be alright." "Now there. It's all better. Now it's time to say good night." "Yes. I'll leave the light on. And check beneath the beds". "I'll see you in the morning, my little sleepy heads."
