When my temporal life has gone
let my memory not hold sway
Unless it does provoke a smile
to brighten your own day.

Don't make me a hero
or a martyr to a cause
I know my inherent sins
just as you know yours.

Just sing for me a happy song
for the road my life has paved
Do not indulge in worry
that my soul was never saved.

Though there is fear in dying
I fear not to be dead
That only regrets that I will have
are for words I never said.

So in my passing just take comfort
love your own life as you should
At the end of life be knowing
even the worst of times were good.
