the tide
Smash my bones against the rocks,
peel my skin away.
Take my matter on the tide;
One thing alone should stay.
The fossils jest and mock my life,
but leave this one part whole.
Their wicked mistress ocean,
can never have my soul.
Her hate and fear know not she,
who's gentle as a pond;
whose surface may be jagged,
is calm down to the ground.
She wants not to break a heart,
just join two together.
She knew now well enough,
to leave them perfect weather.
