I am the settler that dwells in your mind
I am the illness you wish to unwind
I ask why you would do that, tis’ this I implore
I am the burden that lies at your door
I am a robber of happiness indeed
I am now a tree which has grown from a seed
A mistake from your past or unkindly gesture
It makes no difference to me, so in your mind I will fester
I will spread like a legion and invade like pestilence
I will break your will and destroy your confidence
I will never leave your mind until you can forgive and forget
I think I’ll remain, let’s make a bet
