Slave to stress
I must confess
That anxiety suffocates
Who can relate
Liquor is numbing
To what’s coming
No more pain
Feeling so mundane
Another pointless high
Time passing by
Another hostile situation  
Holding no reservation
As I contemplate
Each petty debate
Searching for change
My perceptions rearrange
This overwhelming emptiness
Coexists with loneliness
Taking its toll
Consuming me whole
