Right laments the passing of a time

when youths were disciplined, modest,

leukanthes, white-flowering,

melikrous, honey-skinned.

As Socrates reminds Glaukon,

who as an erotikos should remember:

if they’re dark say they’re manly,

if fair, children of the gods

who get under your skin.

When an athlete got up

he had to brush the sand,

take care not to leave an imprint.

Who had put thigh forward,

not to show anything cruel or harsh

adjectives predicated of Eros himself.

Right’s point sight torments.

Where Plato broods, eremenos rested.
