let's say you make a decision
justify it any way you need to
stick to your guns
put up with the shame
make it your own
and take the blame

let's say that happened
i'll spell it out if i need to
nobody won
everything's the same
nowhere to run
and no claim to fame

and then everyone else had another idea
because that's what you told them
all this time, this immeasurable fear
that thing that you sold them

can't hardly speak, if only
i've never, ever felt this lonely
