i pulled the petals off a daisy,
it told me "she loves me"
the flower lied, but so did you.

you said, "i won't let it get that far."
you said, "i love you, i'm not gonna forget about you."
you said, "i can't have a relationship right now."
you said, "work will get so busy during the summer."
you said, "maybe we could try again sometime."
and then you left me for someone else.

you stopped loving me.
you forgot about me.
you were never going to give me another chance.
you said, "i don't like you anymore, and i don't think i will anytime soon."
and that was the only truth.

the flower lied to me when i pulled off its petals,
when it said "she loves me"
when she really "loves me not"
but the flowers lies don't even compare to yours.
