Winter
Bedridden in the harsh claws of Winter,
Oh that formidable foe!
Who gashes deep like a steel splinter,
And fills my lungs with snow.
How long will my vessel hold in this trap,
And what has become of warmth?
The air is ****** from every gap;
Twang! Pang! To and forth!
Oh this is a mighty tempest night
That grasps and holds my young hair,
And with a thrash rips it out right;
Shriveled and starved and bare.
End me now great God and Lord of all!
Forgive me soon or
Be done and let me fall
To Sin, that empty *****.
Winter, Thou hast found me undone;
A wretched, awful thing.
I am the Worldβs ******* son;
Abandoned by the Spring.
