Dec 2017
I broke free from my chain
My body hurts from the pain
Humiliated, hurt, starved
Scars on my soul, forever carved

A fire burns in my eye
Brighter than the sky
I shake of the cold
Feeling a little bold

I run for the door
My feet pound on the floor
A light awaits me
I will be free

But I can’t
The door closes
The light fades
I’m trapped.
Again

I slump and close my eyes.
I pray to die.
Why? I ask
Why.
