Dec 2017
These days people are afraid to fly
With good reason, who wants to die
Who ever thought terror could strike our skies
Lord please hear our cries
Tonight was a night of pain
Tears fell down my cheeks like rain
Never touching sacred ground
My eyes have tears and everything they surround
Why do my eyes tighten
Will my sun ever brighten
My tears continue to fall
Eyes closing tighter until everything comes to a stall
Help me a dark cloud hangs over my head
Crying so long that I can't go to bed
The only place I wish to be
Is away from here but always free
When will all this madness end
This is something I can't comprehend
So many innocent victims
When will all this hate end
I wrote this poem two days after September  11, 2001. This event touched my heart. US Army combat veteran.
