Nightmares

by PoeticArtiste

*I’d stay up all night to avoid the monsters in my dreams, I didn’t want another night gasping for air, -afraid to sleep. It was too much to hide in silence, There was something crying aloud, I tried to overcome it, -I kept the fears to myself. But most days my mind was cluttered, And my heart was heavy The sharp pains in my chest only caused me to be angry. I wanted a release, I knew what I needed to do, But I kept killing myself, So I wouldn’t lose you.*

Notes

Sometimes we hold onto things we know we would be happier without. It is not your fault who you fall in love with. It is not your fault if someone treats you unfairly. It is their own. Don’t lose sleep over people who do not care, understand, or love you enough not to hurt you. Someone who truly loves you would never leave you like this.
