Jul 2012
walking down the shadowed alley
searching for food and shelter
wandering from dusk to dawn to dusk

no family, no love- just pain
only memories of a war fought
for his country he loved

has his own country turned on him
in his time of need
how dare a country let a veteran suffer

The pride for our country gets in the way
of the pride of the homeless veteran
who once gave his all, and put his life on the line
for a country who lets him wander
down a shadowed alley
with no food or water

from dusk to dawn to dusk
a forgotten warrior
is left empty and alone
