We met only today,
And I instantly knew
We were a match,
Two peas in a pod,
The old saying goes,
His smile is constant,
His eyes always shine,
He towers over me,
My companion.
We never do a lot,
Sometimes we just talk,
He is a outstanding listener,
He keeps closed, Never
Telling me secrets of his past,
But I never ask,
Just nod and grin,
It sometimes grows cold,
But he never moans,
Never whines,
Frozen in time
'Come in! You'll freeze!'
Screams my mother,
My head turns to see her
Shaking head and rolling eyes
'He'll still be there tomorrow!'
I'm nine, I'm not an idiot,
The sun is rising, the roads are
Clearing and tomorrow...
He will have melted,
My companion.
