Once happy
and candy sweet,
spelled with sugared hearts
as on Valentine's day.

The pain of love,
lost in the wind,
like leaves swept away
from the common limb.

Soul dissection,
heart removal,
the drying stain
of spilled blood.

Once removed,
all is blue and black,
bruises are the only thing
that remain, along with the depression.

The memories and feelings,
that cannot be excised,
shadow pains continue
though the source is no more.
