I sometimes let you fall
Not far
Not hard
But far and hard enough
That my hand
In the small of your back
Around your upper arm
Or waist
Feels heroic
At least
That’s what I hope

I sometimes fall silent
Not for long
Not for effect
But long and with affect enough
That my words
When spoken
In our space
And your presence
Have weight & substance
At least
That’s what I wish for
