When the shadows creep out,
when the sun refuses to shine.
When the nights are the blackest,
and there’s not a star in the sky.

When my heart seems to have shattered,
when fortune frowns on me.
When I haven’t the strength to stand,
and I haven’t the focus to see.

When my prayers go unanswered,
when I lose faith in it all.
When gravity takes it’s hold,
and I have no choice but to fall.

When I feel like giving in,
when there’s nothing that I can do.
When my life appears so tainted,
and nothing seems to hold true.

When the rain falls down around me,
when my judgment seems unclear.
When my tears drop like thunder,
and my mind quakes with fear.

When the world gets cold,
when the weight’s too much to bear.
When everything seems so broken,
and nobody seems to care.

When the pressure is too great,
when I feel I can’t hold on.
When my walls give in around me,
and all hope is lost.

When I haven’t a fighting chance,
when I haven’t the slightest clue,
when there’s nothing left for me in this world,
I need only think of you.
