We wandered through the
upper floor of the library
surrounded by the endless
words from people long dead
whispering to us from the endless
shelves that serve as mausoleums
standing parallel and closing in
on me as I leafed through random
books hoping to find a dollar or
two among the priceless ideas
so that I could pay off the $1.75
late fee I had garnered from a
book I don't remember taking home.
