May 2012
At dusk, when the sky is filled with wisps of crimson and yellow
Your eyes glow with golden brilliance
I find it hard to believe my heart once sang words of mellow
With all your pain, you amaze me with your resilience
The warmth of day draining to night
Reminds me of our short time
And each memory pierces me with fright
That I would never be able to hold you, or read you my rhyme
The way you clutch my arm
As we charge through the darkness of war
Keeps us both from harm
With your strength and beauty to guide us, like a boat and oar
We will win this battle for the world
Just as our love has unfurled
