From the city of Sychar, a stone throw away

Stood a welcomed wayside well

Jesus and disciples, took thy rest

A journey of news to tell

Disciples went on, to pay for foods

For then a woman came by

A Samaritan, a glazing glance

Still water to draw up high

The Messiah’s request astonishing

A drink to ask of her

Yet the water he would give

A living thirst quencher

Of water not drawn from the well

To cleanse the sins of men

Salvation gift, given for free

To never be thirsty again
