We skipped stones
flinging them at
the waves
with just the right amount
of spin
in hopes that they
would catch the front
of a wave and shoot
skywards
and in the moment
those stones
so smooth and
worn by endless
water
would soar skyward
no longer bound
by the gravity
that kept pulling
us down
into the sand
