The boy had a heart of gold
which was fine
until the price of gold went up.
Now a commodity,
the boy was
coveted,
traded,
owned,
by collectors who cared only for
the purity of a golden heart
and little for the humanity
surrounding it.
With a little gray matter
and a little bit of paint,
the boy disguised his heart
with a layer of silver.

Which was fine,
Until the price of silver went up.
