Bluffing Sunsets
We watched the sunrise.
without any words.
Enjoying the breeze,
Hearing the birds.
Your smile was warm,
On the coldest of days.
Every time you would leave,
I wished you would stay.
Like a great wave,
it came from afar,
But it crashed all at once,
leaving its scar.
We played in the sand,
Until it felt rough.
We uncovered a mess,
overwhelmed by our bluff.
As we wasted the daylight,
We cried to each other.
Reminiscing on times,
We spent with one another.
Now the sun is setting,
And we both fear the dark.
Together, but apart,
A new journey we embark.
Alas I finish,
With my desperate plea:
I hope he treats you right,
like the way you treated me.
