May 2017
Venturing forth on the sea of life
you sailed across an ocean.
Navigating the currents of uncertainty,
you braved the waters of the unknown
to set up safe harbor in this new land.
The intrepid explorer you faced your fears
all the meanwhile finding new strength
new experiences and
a renewed sense of purpose.
Like a fine whine, time has only aged you better,
a port of great refinement and subtlety.
You are the flower that blooms but late,
yet your color makes others pale in comparison.
You are the star in the night sky,
that no others could ever hope to shine as brightly.
What life may send your way,
may you always face it with the same tenacity,
intensity that set you on this journey from the very start.
