Making Friends
I am astounded
when I notice
the way a face changes
over the course of the first day;
the lines softening
each freckle becoming familiar.
Suddenly
this face means something
holds so much warmth;
no longer the cold portrait of a stranger.
Always,
you become more beautiful
the more you open your heart up to me,
