Let me say i care, and that i’ll temper your fever
For i am here to listen and to linger
I’ll linger after high school and as long as I am wanted
And if you decide nashville's too far
And decide to leave me for your wooden guitar
I will sit at the greyhound station
Because like i said i’ll linger
And  if you meet another young blond with a lot of pens but no fancy guitars
And who knows she may have pens and guitars
And like me she likes the scent of you
And if you decide she's pretty inside
Then i urge you to kiss her and love her and wish for her like i do for you
Because if you love me you surely know i want your happiness to be with you even when you're on the road
And maybe i won't be the girl you love
Yet we made a promise that we’ll always be friends
In the parking lot i held a potted plant in between my thighs and you swore into my eyes who the hell knows we did it before and we can do it again cause i love you deeply and kindly
Cause long before you felt my lips, dips and curves you knew when exactly i needed a coffee or a good cry.
Because we can dance to a room with no music like we can love without sleeping
And we don’t own people
Not for a second or even a day
They can fly or say goodbye at any moment or time
But i decided long long ago a life watching you love another girl would be okay
If you remember how much sugar i take in my coffee and how to love me as love you:
Truly wanting you to be happy even if it means not being with me
Side note: the coffee is good at this greyhound station
