I peer through the fingers
Covering my eyes
Can’t let you see me crying
But still I can’t disguise
The emotional pain
You’ve bestowed upon me
The emotional agony
That I can’t let you see
Because what you don’t know won’t hurt you
But what you do know will
I know you deserve it
But I can’t let you, still.
