Poems
Apr 2017
2nd day of the new year
7am
and it is darker than I like to be awake for.
The streets
are emptier than I have seen them in a long time.
It's an odd feeling...
Finding yourself alone
right in the heart of the city,
all of the lights
-still out
the sun
-still slumbering,
the birds
-still south.
In the quiet streets,
you start to find yourself again
There is so much space
for thought
in this dim emptiness preceding the dawn
You are happy
you chose not to sleep through this.
