You left to soon

Your last breath was before I wanted, every moment taken for granted. Just thought we'd have a lifetime, but yours seems to be cut short.  You left to soon, but you had to go.  You were called for something more, if I only knew.
Your eyes closed one moment, and with that you were gone.  Only but a memory, only with us in spirit, if only we had another chance.  You left to soon, with a blink of an eye and you were no more.
A lifetime left without you, so many moments missed.  I'm blessed to have known you and will always keep you close.  Gone forever but always here.  You left to soon, but we will be reunited one day.
A poem I wrote for my mom a year after she passed away.
