Flight Line
Ground shaking beneath me,
Engines firing up before my own eyes
F-16's all lined up on the base.
Blazing Spring sun
Tumbleweed passes my foot
Air so dry I could finally think
Down the runway
Up into the sky,
Banked right over my head..
In that moment,
I felt passionate
I felt like I was home.
In the rush of the excitement,
The adrenaline
Living vicariously through the pilot
I sent one text
To forever
Change the course
Of my life.
You can go active duty...
I will stand by you.
If this is what you want...
I'm saying we can go.
He signs another four years away
Just moments from today.
No more in-state activations
But a lifetime of unknown.
