The one that got away

by drewy-nickson

It was her. Always her. I loved you before. Before all this, before I even knew what love was. What it meant, how it felt. How it hurt. I loved you from the very start. Before you started working out to get girls to notice you, before they started falling head over heels for your sexy deep voice, before you learned to play guitar so you could play backup for her in her band. I loved you when being friends with you was embarrassing. When all you wanted to do was play pokemon on your newgame boy, when your heart was pure and innocent and you smiled at the little things. The days when we were as close as two people could possibly be. When you didn't look like a Calvin Klevin model but your acne and sheepish silly smile still made my heart beat twice as fast. Your heart was true then and you loved me then.
