And drink your kind of beer
And smoke your kind of cigarettes
Somehow that brings me closer to where you are
But it dawns on me you never asked to read my poetry
I remember pressing my lips against yours in the communal laundry room and whispering into your mouth I had been immortalizing the color of your eyes with a pen
But you never asked
