Darkness

Once there was darkness so deep and thick

The sight for me made me sick

No one could breathe nor see

As the light one sought could never be

So filled with sin

One could never win

The gate was closed for us

But we never made a fuss

We accepted what was our fate

Though we sought beyond the gate

What we wanted was the light

But we would not put up a fight

Though the Father reached down for us

We just walked away, some took a bus

His love we thought was not ours to take

We felt it was all a fake

Satan has us by our tale

He told us we would always fail

We never believed, we were worthy of the light

So again I say we never put up a fight

Till the day the Son came by

He told us to hear the Father's cry

Some stopped and listened

While others walked on waving goodbye

But that day some learnt to fly
