Oh child, what have you done
You've made your mother cry
No longer called your father's son

Why'd you leave home
The comfort, the love
Only to get lost in the mines of all that glitters but which isn't all gold

Blinded by the selfish possibilities
Home forgotten, head stuck looking to the future of what might be
not able to look behind at the past and see

Come back mother prays
Father's worries are buried deep inside, covered with stern looks, denials and thoughts of you kept at bay

For you are too young to set out on your own
Only if you'd look back, just a glimpse and see where your heart lies can still be called home.
