Mar 2012
Winter has settled into caustic bones
Brittle, alkaline, unrepentant
Fine snowflakes layer a hybernating heart
Memories of summer long gone
An ebbing tide of loneliness recedes
Giving way to the numb after glow of acceptance
Sharp splinters of ice break through frost bitten skin
The illusion of warmth lulls to sleep aching thoughts
Each movement painful and creaking
Breaths becoming laborious
Eyelids heavy and lethargic finally close
Left to dreaming of the sun once more
