Careless
Is a five year old
Going out to play in new shoes
And
Returning
With them
Covered in mud

It is not
The cavalier manner
We apply
To
The habitual
Telling of untruths

It is not
The ease
With which
Some swoop in
To fragment
The bonds
Of
Newly minted affections

It is not
The promises
We make
With crossed fingers
While waiting
For
All expectation
To fade

Careless
Claims no devotions
And
Is a blunder
Only children
Can
Afford to make
