musical misgivings

and the music left babe so I did to. the notes drifted, listlessly, into my heart. they wrapped around every vein and muscle. it moved me, closer to the edge. I swayed softly, and sauntered over to peek. to see you and my ending, all neatly written in. the chorus was sung. I picked up the tempo, and got the beat down pat. I missed the steps, couldn’t fall in line. but your grip steered me straight, and I followed the lead. I danced to our song, and uttered the line you fed me. the whole world rejoiced and sang in it. the house was full of chimes, and they played background to our laughter. but slowly rust invaded, the notes quieted. my veins were strung tight, and the chorus didn’t match the tempo. the grip tightened, and the lines I said were forgotten. the music left me in house empty of life. chimes were in my nightmares, and the songs stopped me. my ending was erased when the notes drifted out.
