The Fire Burns
Poems
Oct 2016
Cemetery Panic
Moonlight gleams
Off granite slabs
Lost in dreams
Of hands that grab
Skeletal fingers
Push up through dirt
Thoughts that linger
Fear that flirts
Panic on edge
Clouds darken the sky
I skirt the edge
And hope not to fly
Off the handle
Moon emerges bright
Try to avoid scandal
On this cemetary night
came to drop flowers for a friend
But every sound
Could be my end
As I go to ground
Back to the car
And go to leave
When I notice the stars
And then I can breathe
